Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
