British Culture Secretary to Hold Talks on Israeli Football Club Supporters Prohibition

Sports Safety Discussion

A police and crime commissioner from the West Midlands has requested an immediate reexamination of the ruling to prohibit Maccabi Tel Aviv's fans from being present at the forthcoming game.

Simon Foster, who oversees the force, explains that this request aims to determine whether the prohibition is suitable, essential, justified, sensible, and a balanced measure to accomplish a legitimate aim.

"That must include evaluation of every and any appropriate, alternative options," Foster adds.

The commissioner has additionally requested to examine the written decision and suggestion from the safety committee, as well as the police assessment.

He underscores, though, that the final decision belongs to the committee and the police.
