A charity drive is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
āIt would be incredible if that happened, yes,ā he said. āI wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesnāt, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.ā
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
āIt has a very special place for a lot of people,ā Barghouti explained. āThe essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. Thatās the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.ā
The track was produced after a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.
Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The track features a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the project have clarified that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
āThere is no a rigid aim,ā a representative explained. āWeāll go for whatever we can get. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.ā
The situation in the territory was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
āGiven that reality, a few million doesnāt make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.ā
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
